Friends, cd-romans & countrymen, The new years email is out. We wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year. This is the year of the millenium bug. But before we get to that we have to face other dates like 21-8-1999: this date will cause some problems in alignment of global positioning satellites and will give us a feel of the tremendous problem that we will face on 01-01-2000. The date 9-9-1999 is also a likely contender for bug of the year since many computer programs use these series of 9s to reset themselves. So the Y2K guys [many from our earlier batches] are gonna have a tough time. Lets wish them best of luck in their endeavor and also hope that our placements do not suffer due to the passing away of this bug. This months issue is a display special. We have included articles covering quite a few aspects like those on AGP [Accelerated Graphics Port] technology, Video Memories and Liquid Crystal Displays. From this issue onwards, we have incorporated a crossword in our trivia section. Depending on reader feedback we plan to make it a regular feature. We would like you all to contribute more articles for e@mail and specially for the annual SFE magazine . Please do start now since this may be the only free time you get! Saumitra,Yash & Jayadeep Notice Articles are now invited for the annual SFE magazine Int-Elect. Contributors are requested to submit their articles in any format either from the site, by mail or on a 3½ disk with their name, division, email and phone no.
